The Mozambique national team has scored its first victory in Group F of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mozambique defeated Gabon on Sunday with a score of 3:2.
In the first match, Mozambique was defeated 1:0 by Ivory Coast.
30-year-old striker Faisal Bangal gave Mozambique the lead in the 37th minute. Five minutes later, Geny Catamo scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0.
Gabon narrowed the score to 2-1 in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time with a goal scored by striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Diogo Calila scored for 3:1 in favor of Mozambique in the 52nd minute.
The scorer of Gabon’s second goal was Alex Moucketou-Moussounda in the 76th minute. But the 25-year-old defender’s goal was not enough to put Mozambique in danger of victory.
Gabon remains without points in last place. Mozambique has three points in third place. Cameroon and Ivory Coast are also part of Group F.
