Protests in support of Venezuela and to condemn Washington’s actions were held in front of the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reports Anadolu.
The protest took place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, with protesters expressing opposition to what they described as the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and US military intervention in Venezuela.
Similar protests were reported in several other Brazilian cities as demonstrators criticized Washington’s policies towards the South American country. Trump had accused Maduro of overseeing drug shipments to the US and holding power illegally through election fraud.
Maduro, who is currently in custody at a New York detention center awaiting various charges, has denied the charges as officials in Caracas called for his release.
His wife, first lady Cilia Flores, faces federal criminal charges and is being held in the same center.
